Solid Surface supports the innovative designer through its thermoforming capabilities. This allows organic curvaceous forms for surfaces in an array of locations not often possible.

THERMOFORMING

This is when the acrylic is heated in an oven to a specific temperature allowing it to become formable. This must be performed by a Solid Surface Credited Installer.

RADIUS

The basic composition of all Solid Surface is the same; however, the degree of thermoforming varies for each colour. Designs that have larger chips are not recommended to be thermoformed as they can not form as tight a radius as solid colours. Please refer to the specifications and consult with a Designer Surface Representative.

SINKS

Sinks can be integrated into designs through thermoforming.

The nature of this acrylic surface allows for it to be engraved, images or text can be inlaid, and backlighting can further showcase designs creating shadowing and highlighting textures. A playful element that Solid Surface can offer the design world.

COLOURS

Real White, Pure Arctic and Clara all have translucent properties and can be backlit. If engraving it is suggested to use the colours listed or a solid colour (designs with flecks may cause interference).

ENGRAVED

Consider if there will be any joins prior to engraving or backlighting as a join will become more noticeable in the surface.

LIGHTING

Different types of lighting can be used to create different colours of translucency. Please test lights with the intended surface and consult with a lighting expert to ensure heat does not exceed ….

SURFACE

Consider what surface you will be placing your acrylic onto (if applicable) as when lit Solid Surface will highlight any working behind such as brackets, bolts and screws.
